Amigo Impex is a Nickel Bars & Rods manufacturer and supplier in Mumbai, India, working since 2013. Every rod and bar is produced and certified against ASTM B160 / ASME SB-160. Flats outside the bar size limits, hollow bar and billet are supplied against the specification applicable to that form, as stated at order confirmation. Amigo Impex supplies the two commercially pure grades within it: Nickel 200 (UNS N02200) and Nickel 201 (UNS N02201). The standard also lists solution-strengthened nickel (UNS N02211), which is supplied against order.
Both grades contain a minimum of 99.0% nickel plus cobalt, with carbon being the key difference between them. Nickel 200 bar permits a maximum carbon content of 0.15%. Nickel 201 rod has a maximum carbon content of 0.02% and remains suitable for service above 315°C. Caustic and chlor-alkali circuits are the core duty for both since unalloyed nickel maintains its surface in hot alkaline media.
Round bar spans 3 mm to 800 mm in diameter, while flat bar runs 3.2 mm to 100 mm thick and up to 254 mm wide inside the ASTM B160 bar range. Square, hex, hollow, threaded and billet forms are supplied to drawing requirements. Lengths range from 100 mm to 3000 mm and above, with theoretical bar weight calculated per metre for despatch planning. Bright cold-drawn and black hot-rolled surfaces are both held. Our Mumbai facility handles cutting, machining, threading and fabrication in-house.
Ready stock of roughly 60 to 70 tonnes clears in 1 to 2 days, while made-to-order rolling requires around 30 days. Mill test certification travels with each order, and our company holds AS 9120B, PED, ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 certifications, with pan-India despatch and export supply worldwide.
A bar enquiry closes faster when the standard, grade, section band and finish are settled upfront. The table below covers the nickel rod, bar and other forms we roll, forge or hold in ready stock.
ASTM B160, adopted by ASME as SB-160, governs every consignment we supply. The international standards listed alongside may appear on overseas drawings and cover comparable commercially pure nickel grades. Confirm the exact grade against the mill test certificate before substituting one for another.
| Standard | Scope |
|---|---|
| ASTM B160 | Nickel rod and bar, UNS N02200, N02201 and N02211 |
| ASME SB-160 | Pressure-code adoption of ASTM B160 |
| DIN 17752 | Rods and bars of nickel and nickel alloys |
| JIS H 4553 | Nickel and nickel alloy rods and bars |
| GB/T 4435 | Nickel and nickel alloy round bar, cold-worked 3 mm to 65 mm and hot-worked 6 mm to 254 mm. Grades N6 and N4 are near-equivalents of Nickel 200 and Nickel 201, not identical grades. |
The two commercially pure grades in ASTM B160 are separated by carbon content alone. Material held to the tighter 0.02% carbon limit can be dual-certified to both designations where the heat also meets the Nickel 200 mechanical minimums of 380 MPa tensile and 105 MPa yield in the annealed condition. Where a heat meets chemistry but not those minimums, it certifies to Nickel 201 only. Confirm dual certification against the mill test certificate before releasing one stock item to a Nickel 200 drawing.
Nickel 200 bar, traded as Alloy 200, allows a maximum carbon content of 0.15% and provides 380 MPa minimum tensile strength with 105 MPa yield strength in the annealed condition.
Service temperature determines when Alloy 201 is selected. Its carbon content is capped at 0.02% maximum to prevent embrittlement above 315 °C, with annealed minimums per ASTM B160 of 345 MPa (50,000 psi) tensile strength and 70 MPa (10,000 psi) yield strength.
Diameter and section limits settle most nickel bar and rod orders early. The verified ranges below cover stocked and rolled forms, while sections outside these ranges are quoted against available mill schedules.
| Product Form | Size Range |
|---|---|
| Round Bar | 3 mm to 800 mm diameter |
| Flat Bar | 3.2 mm to 100 mm thick, 10 mm to 254 mm wide (ASTM B160 bar range). Flats below 3.2 mm thick or above 254 mm wide are supplied to ASTM B162. |
| Hollow Bar | 32 mm OD x 16 mm ID to 250 mm OD x 200 mm ID |
| Billet | 12.7 mm to 495 mm diameter |
| Square and Hex Bar | Section sizes to drawing |
| Length | 100 mm to 3000 mm and above, sawn in-house |
| Tolerance | Per ASTM B160 Tables 3 and 4 for cold-worked and hot-worked product. Closer classes h8 to h11 or to drawing on request. |
Theoretical weight for nickel round bar follows the 8.89 g/cm³ density shared by Nickel 200 and Nickel 201. Squaring the diameter in millimetres and multiplying by 0.006982 returns kilograms per metre.
| Diameter | Theoretical Weight per Metre |
|---|---|
| 10 mm | 0.70 kg |
| 20 mm | 2.79 kg |
| 50 mm | 17.46 kg |
| 100 mm | 69.82 kg |
| 200 mm | 279.29 kg |
8 types of nickel bars and rods ship from Mumbai, supplied m for machining or forging.
Full lengths are shipped in wrapped and strapped bundles, while cut pieces are packed in timber cases or on pallets. Each tag lists the grade, heat number, size and specification. Export consignments ship from Mumbai to the USA, the Gulf, Europe and Asia under seaworthy packing, with pan-India despatch running alongside. As a Nickel Bars & Rods exporter, Amigo Impex prepares export documentation with every overseas order.
Chemical analysis, PMI, hardness testing and dimensional inspection run in-house before packing, and third-party inspection is supported wherever the purchase order specifies witness points. Every despatch of Nickel 200 and 201 bar carries an EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate, and a 3.2 certificate can be raised against the order where the specification demands one.

ASTM B160 covers nickel rod and bar in UNS N02200, UNS N02201 and UNS N02211, and ASME adopts the same document as SB-160 for pressure-code work. Hot-worked, cold-worked and annealed conditions all fall inside its scope.
Carbon separates them: Nickel 200 bar allows 0.15% max against 0.02% max for Nickel 201. Order 201 for duty past 315 °C or severe cold forming, and 200 elsewhere for its higher annealed strength.
Yes, small lots, single pieces and cut lengths all ship. Bars are sawn in-house against a stated cut list, and full bundle or mill-length supply runs in parallel.
Nickel round bars are available from 3 mm to 800 mm diameter in lengths of 100 mm to 3000 mm and above. Sizes up to 100 mm are generally held in ready stock, with larger diameters rolled or forged to order.
Yes, nickel bright bar is cold-drawn to a close-tolerance finish, while nickel black bar retains the hot-rolled surface. The bright condition generally requires less finishing, whereas as-rolled stock typically needs more machining.
HS heading 7505 covers nickel bars, rods, profiles and wire. Non-alloy nickel bar and rod clears under subheading 750511, and nickel alloy product falls under 750512.
Components machined from pure nickel rod serve caustic, chlorine and high-purity duty across 8 industries.
