It is providing a very good combination of several properties. It is like high tensile strength, corrosion resistance, and mechanical properties. Also this material is having very good toughness at both welds and base metal and low-temperature heat temperature is minimizing scaling and warping.

This material is hard and forming must be limited to the mild operations. The formability could be improved very well through the heat treatment prior to the cold working. SS 17-4 PH is withstanding corrosive attacks that are better than any standard hardenable SS. The precipitation hardening can be considered to be welded by common fusion and resistance processes.
