Amigo Impex is one of the trusted Monel 400 pipe manufacturers and suppliers, providing pipes and tubes pan-India. Operating from Mumbai for over a decade, we export nickel alloy piping to international markets. All cutting, machining, threading, fabrication, testing, and packaging happen directly in our facility.
Monel 400 is a nickel-copper alloy designated under UNS N04400. Seamless pipes and tubes are produced to ASTM B165 / ASME SB-165 and welded pipes to ASTM B725. Seamless pipe is stocked from 1/4" to 8" NB and welded pipe from 1/2" to 12" NB, alongside seamless and welded tube in 0.125" to 3.000" OD. This grade is selected for its chemistry. A minimum 63.0% nickel content combined with 28.0-34.0% copper gives the pipe its resistance to seawater, hydrofluoric acid and alkaline media, even under continuous flow. Mechanical performance holds across a wide temperature range. Annealed material carries a minimum tensile strength of 480 MPa, with a minimum yield strength of 195 MPa up to 127 mm outside diameter and 170 MPa above it. Marine, chemical processing, oil and gas and power generation installations account for most of the demand we see for this grade. Single random, double random and cut lengths ship from ready stock, and custom cutting is completed before dispatch.
Amigo Impex holds AS 9120B, PED, ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 certifications. Each consignment is supplied with full material traceability.
Amigo Impex holds Monel 400 pipe stock as per the specification set below, covering size envelope, wall thickness, length and end finish. Seamless and welded constructions are ordered against separate ASTM standards.
The standards covering Monel 400 pipes and tubes are form-specific. Seamless and welded products carry different ASTM numbers, while dimensional and general-requirement standards apply to both. The table maps each standard to its product form.
| Standard | Product Form |
|---|---|
| ASTM B165 / ASME SB-165 | Seamless pipe and tube |
| ASTM B163 | Seamless tube |
| ASTM B725 | Welded pipe |
| ASTM B730 | Welded tube |
| ASTM B829 | General requirements, seamless pipe and tube |
| ASTM B775 | General requirements, welded pipe |
| AMS 4574 | Aerospace seamless tube |
| VdTÜV 263 | Pressure vessel material approval |
| ASME B36.10 | Pipe dimensions |
Roughly two parts nickel to one part copper defines Monel 400 chemistry, and that balance is what keeps the alloy stable in flowing seawater. ASTM B165 / ASME SB-165 fixes the limits for UNS N04400 pipe below.
| Element | Content (%) |
|---|---|
| Nickel (Ni) | 63.0 min |
| Copper (Cu) | 28.0-34.0 |
| Iron (Fe) | 2.50 max |
| Manganese (Mn) | 2.00 max |
| Carbon (C) | 0.30 max |
| Silicon (Si) | 0.50 max |
| Sulphur (S) | 0.024 max |
Annealed Alloy 400 pipe and tube must meet the ASTM B165 / ASME SB-165 minimum given in this table. Wall thickness calculations for pressure service should rest on these standard values, not on higher mill-typical results.
| Condition and size | Tensile strength, min | Yield strength (0.2% offset), min | Elongation, min |
|---|---|---|---|
| Annealed, 127 mm OD and under | 480 MPa (70 ksi) | 195 MPa (28 ksi) | 35% |
| Annealed, over 127 mm OD | 480 MPa (70 ksi) | 170 MPa (25 ksi) | 35% |
| Stress relieved, all sizes | 585 MPa (85 ksi) | 380 MPa (55 ksi) | 15% |
Enquiries for this alloy arrive under several names. It is the same nickel-copper material in each system, so a line item written against Werkstoff 2.4360 matches pipe certified as UNS N04400.
| Designation System | Equivalent |
|---|---|
| UNS (USA) | N04400 |
| Werkstoff number (Germany) | 2.4360 |
| German Specification | DIN 17751 |
Amigo Impex provides these specialised types of Monel 400 piping products, available in both seamless and welded configurations.
Our Mumbai warehouse dispatches orders across India, shipping ready stock within 1 to 2 days for urgent requests. Custom material requires a 30-day production lead time. We pack small tube lots in boxes, cut lengths in wooden crates, and full-length pipes in strapped bundles, applying seaworthy export packaging for shipments. Clients select either door delivery or ex-warehouse collection, and our logistics team handles transport whenever an order excludes it.
Every order of Monel 400 pipes and tubes ships with a mill test certificate, drawn from the original mill or from our own testing. Third-party inspection is supported on request, and welded pipe can be examined by 100% X-ray or ultrasonic methods where the purchase order specifies it. An ASTM number is not a certification; it is the product specification the pipe conforms to.
Monel 400 pipes and tubes price ranges from ₹1,500-₹7,000/kg (about US$20-$80/kg) for domestic supply and for export orders. There is no standing price list for the grade; rates track nickel and copper market movement, so published figures don't stay accurate for long. Size, schedule, construction and testing scope complete the quotation, and Amigo Impex prices each enquiry individually.
