All our products are made of austenitic stainless steel that differs in
chemical composition. The SS 317 is a bit different from SS 317 L. The
stainless steel 317 has chromium content in 4-30 percentages. Apart from
austenitic, SS 317 is classified into ferritic and martensitic steel as well
due to its crystalline structure. Moreover, it is an advanced version of SS
316. This advanced version has corrosion resistance and high strength. The
use of this grade steel gives good resistant and strength to the pipes and
tubes.
On the other hand, the SS317L has an improved corrosion resistant due to the
lower carbon content. Therefore, the pipes and tubes are resistant towards
sensitization as well. This makes the welding and thermal processes easier.
Under the annealed condition, the pipes and tubes display their non-magnetic
property. However, they show a slight magnetic property because of welding.
When it comes to corrosion, the pipes and tubes can resist chemical attacks
that occur in pulp and paper industries this is due to the increased
quantity of molybdenum, chromium, and nickel in SS. They can resist sulfuric
acidic concentrations at 120 degrees F temperature. Even if the acid is
present in 5 percent concentration then also the pipes and tubes made of
SS317L can resist the corrosion.
To ensure their performance under operating conditions, service tests are
done on pipes and tubes in our testing unit.
