The nickel content offers resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, while molybdenum and copper enhance corrosion resistance in reducing environments compared to standard grades.
The alloy's molybdenum and chromium content also resist pitting corrosion in various oxidizing environments. Titanium stabilization prevents sensitization or grain boundary precipitation in the weld-affected zone, ensuring resistance to intergranular attacks at elevated temperatures. Incoloy 825 tubes and Inconel 825 pipes are resistant to breakdown in various harsh environments, including sulfuric, sulfurous, hydrofluoric, phosphoric, nitric acids, and alkalis.
These pipes and tubes exhibit desirable mechanical properties across a broad temperature range, from cryogenic to moderately high temperatures. They can be exposed to temperatures above 1000°F, which may alter their microstructure, reducing ductility and impact strength. While Incoloy 825 is not ideal for applications requiring creep rupture properties, it can be strengthened through cold working, maintaining good impact strength at room temperature and retaining it at cryogenic temperatures.
