Amigo Impex is a Monel wire manufacturer, supplier, stockist and exporter based in Mumbai, India, operating since 2013. The range includes Monel 400 (UNS N04400) wire supplied to ASTM B164 / ASME SB-164, with diameters from 0.04 mm to 6.35 mm.

Monel 400 is a nickel-copper alloy wire material known for its resistance to seawater, hydrofluoric acid and caustic environments. Its minimum nickel plus cobalt content of 63.0% and copper content of 28.0 to 34.0% provide the corrosion resistance required for marine, chemical-processing and other demanding applications. Annealed wire is supplied to a tensile strength band of 483 to 586 MPa (70 to 85 ksi) under ASTM B164, and cold working raises strength further for harder tempers and spring wire.

Monel Wires Manufacturer & Supplier in India

The range includes lockwire, seizing wire, spring wire and ERNiCu-7 filler wire. Material is supplied on spools or in coils, and can be straightened and cut to length where the application requires it. Certified tensile properties under ASTM B164 apply to the wire in coil form. Drawing to the required diameter, cutting, testing and packing are carried out in-house at the Mumbai facility.

Ready stock of approximately 60 to 70 tonnes supports urgent orders, with stock items generally dispatched within 1 to 2 days. Made-to-order diameters typically require around 30 days. Pricing is quoted per kilogram through dated offers. Each lot is supplied with an EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate, with 3.2 certification available when specified. Supply covers pan-India, with exports to the USA, Gulf, Europe and Asia.

Monel Wire Specifications

Grade, diameter, temper, finish and supply format determine the requirements for each Monel wire order. The table below summarises the standard supply range, while requirements outside these parameters are reviewed before quotation.

ASTM B164 wire tempers are named Annealed, No. 0, No. 1, Regular and Spring. Annealed, No. 0, No. 1 and Regular tempers each carry a specified tensile range, while Spring temper is specified as a minimum tensile strength that varies with diameter. The temper should therefore be stated on the enquiry rather than described as cold drawn, since all wire under this specification is supplied in a cold-worked form.

Standard
ASTM B164 / ASME SB-164 for Monel 400 wire; AWS A5.14 for ERNiCu-7 filler wire

Applicable Standards for Monel Wire

ASTM B164 provides the product specification for nickel-copper alloy rod, bar and wire, while ASME SB-164 is the corresponding ASME designation. Additional standards may apply to aerospace, welding, safety-wire and other specialised requirements.

Monel Wire Grades

The standard Monel wire range is based on Monel 400, identified as UNS N04400. Other designations such as Alloy 400, NiCu30Fe, W.Nr. 2.4360 and NW4400 may also be used for the same alloy.

Monel 400 Wires (UNS N04400)

Monel alloy wire, specifically Monel 400, combines corrosion resistance with useful mechanical strength and is suitable for marine, chemical-processing, electrical and general industrial applications. Depending on the required condition, it can be supplied in Annealed, No. 0, No. 1, Regular or Spring temper as defined in ASTM B164 Table 2.

Shipping and Packaging of Monel Wires

Packaging is selected according to wire diameter, supply format and destination. Fine-diameter Monel wire is supplied on protected spools and packed in suitable cartons, while coils are secured with wrapping and strapping. Straightened cut lengths can be packed in lined cases where additional protection is required during transport.

Each package is identified with the grade, heat number, diameter and applicable specification. Custom marking can also be provided when specified in the order. Domestic consignments are dispatched across pan-India from Mumbai, while export shipments are prepared for the USA, Gulf, European and Asian markets.

Monel Wire Testing and Certifications

Each lot is tested to the requirements of ASTM B164, which calls for chemical analysis, tension testing, hardness testing and a wrapping test, one of each per lot. Positive material identification and dimensional inspection are carried out in addition to the standard's requirements.

Third-party inspection can be arranged when required by the purchase order. Every consignment is supplied with an EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate, while 3.2 certification can be provided when specified. Our company holds AS 9120B, PED, ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 certifications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Monel wire is used for marine seizing wire, aerospace safety lockwire, springs, trolling wire, tie wire and other components exposed to corrosive environments. ERNiCu-7 filler wire is also used for welding Monel 400 and for joining compatible nickel-copper alloy components.

Monel wire is available in diameters from 0.04 mm to 6.35 mm. Fine diameters are suitable for seizing and lockwire applications, while larger sizes can be supplied for springs, fabrication and other industrial requirements. Diameters outside the standard supply range can be reviewed for production to order.

ERNiCu-7 is the applicable nickel alloy wire filler classification under AWS A5.14 for welding Monel 400. Filler can be supplied in the required diameter and format, subject to the welding procedure and application requirements.

Not reliably. The Curie temperature of Monel 400 falls within the ambient range, roughly 21°C to 49°C, so the alloy is often faintly to moderately magnetic at room temperature and becomes non-magnetic above that range. Small composition differences between heats shift the exact changeover point, which means one heat can respond to a magnet and another may not. Monel 400 should not be specified where a firm non-magnetic requirement applies. Where non-magnetic behaviour is essential, the requirement should be stated on the enquiry so a suitable alternative can be reviewed.

Yes. Monel 400 wire is widely selected for marine environments because of its resistance to seawater and many chloride-containing conditions. The actual suitability depends on factors such as temperature, flow velocity, exposure conditions and the presence of other corrosive species.

No. Monel wire is the solid drawn wire supplied on spools, coils or in straightened lengths. Monel wire mesh is a separate fabricated product made by weaving or welding wire into a mesh structure, with its own dimensions and specifications.
