A duplex stainless steel plate divides its microstructure between ferrite and austenite in near-equal shares. Chromium forms the passive oxide film, nitrogen stabilises the austenite phase and lifts pitting resistance, molybdenum in the 2205 chemistry improves resistance to pitting and crevice attack, and the balanced ferrite-austenite structure resists chloride stress corrosion cracking in hot brines and process liquor. SA-240 sets 620 MPa (90 ksi) minimum tensile, 450 MPa (65 ksi) minimum yield and 25% minimum elongation for S31803. Heats dual-certified to S32205 meets a higher 655 MPa tensile minimum. Hot-rolled plate and cold-rolled sheet sit in stock across 1000 mm, 1219 mm and 1500 mm widths.
Chemical plants, pressure vessels, scrubber columns and chloride-bearing process water lines draw most of the tonnage, with brackish and intermittent seawater duty covered at ambient temperature and continuous warm seawater service referred to the 25Cr super duplex range. Dispatch covers pan-India from Mumbai; exports move to the USA, the Gulf, Europe and Asia, and urgent requirements pull from 60 to 70 tonnes of ready stock. Two duplex stainless steel grades are held in sheet and plate form, split by nickel and molybdenum loading: Duplex S31803 and lean duplex S32304. The 25Cr family sits on the super duplex steel sheets and plates page, and neither grade below suits continuous service above 300°C.
Duplex S31803 sheet and plate answers most drawings, with heats commonly dual-certified to S32205. SA-240 asks for 620 MPa (90 ksi) tensile, 450 MPa (65 ksi) yield and 25% elongation as minima for S31803, and 655 MPa (95 ksi) tensile against the same yield and elongation once a heat is dual-certified to S32205.
Lean duplex S32304 cuts molybdenum back to 0.05 to 0.60% against 3.00 to 3.50% in 2205, and trims nickel to 3.00 to 5.50%, so 2304 sheet prices below 2205 while covering moderate chloride environments.
For duplex steel plates, dimensional cover splits between ex-stock bands and cut-to-size work. A size outside the table isn't refused; the in-house line cuts it against order before dispatch.

ASTM A240 / ASME SA-240 covers duplex steel sheets and plates, with ASTM A480 supplying the general requirements for flat-rolled delivery.
Both certify to the same specification yet leave the mill by different routes: sheet is the thinner cold rolled gauge finished 2B or polished, plate the heavier hot rolled product.
Duplex 2205 (UNS S31803 / S32205) and lean duplex S32304 are stocked in sheet and plate form; the 25Cr super duplex grades run as a separate range.
A 450 MPa minimum yield against 170 MPa for 316L lets duplex steel plate carry the same load in a thinner section, and its dual-phase structure resists the chloride stress corrosion cracking that limits austenitic plate.
