Amigo Impex is a trusted stainless steel sheets and plates manufacturer and supplier in Mumbai, India, serving fabricators and OEMs since 2013. We hold stainless steel sheets & plates to ASTM A240 / ASME SA-240 and ASTM A693, running from SS 304 through 904L to the precipitation hardening set, with 60 to 70 tonnes of prime mill material on the racks.

SS sheets and plates are corrosion-resistant industrial materials that hold up in wet, chloride-bearing and high-temperature service. Grades are chosen based on performance: SS 310 for furnace temperatures, the 300 series for general corrosion service. Export drawings match through UNS and EN cross-references. Thickness spans 0.3 mm to 150 mm across various sheet and plate forms. Widths reach 2000 mm, lengths 6000 mm, and in-house cutting brings any dimension down to the drawing. Surface finishes run from No.1 hot rolled to No.8 mirror.

Stainless Steel Sheets & Plates Manufacturer, Supplier in India

Chemical plants, marine yards, pharmaceutical equipment builders and construction firms draw on this stock. Consignments move pan-India from Mumbai and are exported to the USA, the Gulf, Europe and Asia, priced per kilogram. AS 9120B, ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 are the certifications held by our company. A mill test certificate accompanies every order.

Stainless Steel Sheet & Plate Grades

The following stainless steel sheet and plate grades sit across the following metallurgical families: austenitic, super-austenitic and precipitation-hardening.

SS 304 Sheets & Plates

18% chromium, 8% nickel, carbon capped at 0.08%. Yield starts at 205 MPa. Oxidation resistance holds at 870°C intermittently and 925°C continuously.

SS 304L Sheets & Plates

Carbon drops to 0.03% max, which blocks chromium carbide formation at grain boundaries during welding. Heavy plate above 6 mm goes into service as-welded. Yield: 170 MPa.

SS 316 Sheets & Plates

Adding 2–3% molybdenum lifts PREN to 24.2, well above 19.0 for 304. Chloride pitting slows sharply. Marine hardware, pharma vessels and coastal cladding run on it.

SS 316L Sheets & Plates

Welders reach for 316L on vessels that skip solution annealing. Carbon under 0.03% protects the weld zone, though the minimum yield drops to 170 MPa from 205.

SS 317 Sheets & Plates

Scrubber internals and mixed-acid tanks move to 317 when 316 pits. Molybdenum runs 3–4%, chromium 18–20%, and the 0.08% carbon holds strength above the L grade.

SS 317L Sheets & Plates

PREN clears 30 on typical heats. The 0.030% carbon ceiling carries welded joints through the 427–816°C precipitation band, so fabricators skip post-weld annealing on large weldments.

SS 321 Sheets & Plates

Titanium at five times carbon plus nitrogen locks the carbon into stable carbides. Weld heat leaves chromium alone. Exhaust systems and expansion joints hold up to 900°C.

SS 347 Sheets & Plates

Niobium replaces titanium here, and it survives the arc instead of burning off, which is why ER347 filler welds 321 too. Creep strength edges past 321 above 600°C.

SS 310 Sheets & Plates

Furnace builders pick 310 for its 25% chromium and 20% nickel. Scaling resistance runs to 1150°C continuous, 1035°C intermittent. The alloy carries no molybdenum, so pitting resistance stays poor.

SS 15-5 PH Sheets & Plates

Vacuum remelting strips out delta ferrite, so 15-5 PH holds its toughness across the transverse direction. Landing gear fittings and heavy valve bodies need that uniformity under multi-axis loads.

SS 17-4 PH Sheets & Plates

Age it for four hours at 482°C, and the A693 plate reaches 170 ksi tensile. Copper at 3–5% forms the precipitates. Service stops near 300°C, where overaging costs strength.

PH 13-8 Mo Sheets & Plates

H950 ageing delivers 220 ksi tensile, 205 ksi yield, HRC 45. VIM plus VAR melting keeps inclusions low, and 2–2.5% molybdenum adds pitting resistance that the other PH grades lack.

SS 17-7 PH Sheets & Plates

Shops form 17-7 PH in Condition A, where it works like 301, then hardens to TH1050 or RH950. Springs and diaphragms come out with almost no distortion.

Stainless Steel Sheets and Plates Sizes

Stainless steel sheets and plates sizes follow the mill envelope below. A dimension that isn't listed still ships: we cut and profile stainless steel metal sheets to the drawing.

DimensionRange
Sheet Thickness (Cold Rolled)0.3 mm to under 5.0 mm
Plate Thickness (Hot Rolled)5.0 mm to 150 mm

Cut to SizeAny dimension within the envelope, profile cutting included

SS Sheet & Plate Surface Finishes

Finish decides application fit and rate on an SS sheet: a 2B panel and a No.8 mirror panel price well apart. Six finishes are held or arranged.

FinishDescription
No.1Hot-rolled, annealed and pickled plate finish for structural work
2BBright, smooth cold-rolled mill finish; the default on SS sheet
2DDull matt cold-rolled finish for deep drawing and forming
BABright annealed and reflective; supplied under protective plastic film
No.4Brushed matt finish for kitchen, food service and interior panels
No.8Mirror polish for decorative and architectural cladding

Stainless Steel Sheet & Plate Types

Thickness splits the two base forms: under ASTM A480, a stainless steel sheet is under 5.0 mm (3/16 in.) thick and 600 mm or wider, while a stainless steel plate is 5.0 mm and over and wider than 250 mm. Two processed variants join them for four supplied types:

01 SS Shim Sheets
SSShim Sheets
02 Stainless Steel Foil Sheets
Stainless SteelFoil Sheets
03 SS Strip Sheets

FAQs

The difference between a stainless steel sheet and a stainless steel plate is thickness and width, as defined in ASTM A480: a sheet is under 5.0 mm (3/16 in.) thick and 600 mm or wider, while a plate is 5.0 mm and over and wider than 250 mm.

Select SS 316 or 316L sheet or plate for marine and chloride service; 904L covers stronger acids.

No.1, 2B, 2D, BA, No.4 and No.8 mirror finishes are available on stainless steel sheets and plates.

Yes, we cut stainless steel sheets and plates to size in-house, including profile cutting, within 2000 mm width and 6000 mm length.

Secondary stainless steel sheet and plate is surplus or defect-bearing stock sold without full traceability, and we don't supply it. Every order ships as prime mill material with a mill test certificate.

Store stainless steel sheets and plates flat or near vertical on dry racking, away from carbon steel contact, and keep the protective film on polished stainless sheets until fabrication.

Stainless steel plates can be used for tanks, boilers and pressure vessels; hot-rolled plate from 5.0 mm to 150 mm covers shell and head thicknesses.
