15-5 PH stainless steel plate is a martensitic chromium-nickel-copper stainless steel that gains strength from a low-temperature ageing treatment rather than cold work. We stock sheet and plate in this grade against ASTM A693 / ASME SA-693 Grade XM-12 and AMS 5862, the two specifications that govern flat-rolled product.
Copper drives the age-hardening response, while niobium keeps weld zones stable. Material ships solution-annealed in Condition A. Aged to H900, it reaches 1310 MPa minimum tensile strength; higher ageing temperatures through H1150 trade that strength for toughness and ductility. Elongation climbs as the ageing temperature rises. European drawings name the same steel W.Nr 1.4545; UNS S15500 plate orders ship against identical chemistry. Sheet starts at 0.38 mm; plate ranges up to 101.6 mm. Hot-rolled plate, cold-rolled sheet, perforated sheet and shim stock serve aerospace structural parts and oil and gas hardware, with blanks cut in-house.

ASME SA-693 sets the aged minimums below. Elongation is banded by thickness: sheet and strip under 4.76 mm, plate 4.76 to 15.88 mm, and plate over 15.88 mm to 101.6 mm. Condition A is controlled by maximum strength and hardness with a minimum elongation, so the material stays formable; strength floors apply only after ageing.

Tighter delta ferrite control gives it higher transverse toughness and ductility, and properties hold up better in heavier cross-sections, with comparable strength and corrosion resistance. Thin sheet loaded along the rolling direction isn't where the premium pays off; specify 15-5 PH SS plate where transverse impact values are mandated.
